CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF COMMUNITY FOOTBALL WITH SORRENTO FC.
Sunday 24th April Sorrento FC will hold a Gala Day at Percy Doyle to celebrate 50 years of club history.
Formation of the Club
On the 9th of February 1972, the official launch of Sorrento Football Club (SFC) was held and supported by the City of Wanneroo. At its inception the club consisted of 77 junior players and a mere 9 members. The clubs colours of turquoise, black and white were taken from the nearby Sorrento Primary School, from which the majority of players were sourced.
In its inaugural year SFC fielded teams in the under 8, under 13, and under 16 age groups. The club’s home ground was Marri Oval at Ayton Way, Duncraig and to this day the oval remains a vital facility used by the club.
Sorrento made history in WA by becoming the first club to conduct football camps and clinics in 1972, where sessions were conducted to improve the players’ football skills and understanding of the game.
The benefits of these clinics became obvious shortly thereafter as the SFC Under 9’s team became the first team of any age group to ever win “The Triple”, consisting of League Championship, Knock-out Cup, and the R&I Trophy.
Sorrento Football Club has used Sport Plus as supplier of Erreà kit and equipment for 14 years. A joint partnership that has lead to years of Erreà kit design.
2021/22 brought with it an exclusive project and an innovative design consisting of a "Flock of Gulls" represented on the main body of the jersey with the sleeves characterised by the presence of the celebrated stripe.
STRIPE iD is intended to represent a new level and experience of customisation that places clubs and the concept of “identity” at its centre. For this, all of the elements that make up the stripe present on the garment created by Erreà for SORRENTO FC have been designed and created to emphasise their inimitable image and render it unique.
Sorrento Football Club is pleased to announce a 5 Year Major Sponsorship Deal with The John Hughes Group of Companies .
This fantastic partnership will allow the club to invest in future proposed building infrastructure over the next 12 months and beyond. New state of the art changerooms and proposed undercover seating will be known as the JOHN HUGHES PAVILLION.
