Iceland Surprise Argentina Iceland qualified for its first-ever FIFA World Cup this year, becoming the smallest nation by population to ever clinch a World Cup berth. They didn't have to wait very long for their first goal in the tournament. • Its first game of the group stage came against Lionel Messi and Argentina -- one of the tournament favorites. But after Sergio Aguero scored in the 19th minute to give the Argentinians an early lead, Iceland responded quickly. Alfred Finnbogason -- a striker for the German club FC Augsburg -- scored the historic first goal for Iceland just four minutes after Aguero's strike. The goal came off a rebound from the Argentinian keeper.

LEGENDS ARE BORN WITHOUT WARNING ICE, WATER, FIRE AND GEYSERS: ONCE AGAIN THE NEW KITS DESIGNED BY ERREÀ FOR THE ICELAND FOOTBALL TEAM HAVE BEEN INSPIRED BY NATURE'S ELEMENTS! A land covered in ice with an immense wealth of water and a heart of fire thanks to the huge number of volcanoes and geysers. All of this can be found harmonized in the new kits which Erreà Sport has designed for KSÍ – the Football Association of Iceland and its first ever history making appearance in the FIFA World Cup. The fire which lights and warms the heart of this land and its people is the starting element for unveiling the new kit. Due to its effect, the ice, symbolically represented by the white on the V-necked collar and along the shoulders, slowly melts, mixing with the lava along the sleeves characterized by almost dot-like graphics where red and blue blend. Then blue representing the water that has melted thanks to the heat, is the distinctive color of the main body and the background of the home strip with its simple and clean lines but perfect down to the smallest detail. The close fit is emphasized by the combination of two fabrics. The first, positioned in the central part of the jersey, is soft, breathable and extremely comfortable and is embellished and combined with a second yarn, a special mesh placed along the sides of the jersey. To emphasize the strong national identity, the pride and the intense sense of community that distinguish the Icelandic people, there are two iconic elements included in the new kit: the motto already present for the 2016 European Championships "FYRIR ÍSLAND" ("For Iceland") positioned inside the neck and the national flag on the back of the jersey. The new KSÍ kits, like all Erreà garments, are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, prestigious certification, obtained by the company in 2007 as the leading European company in the teamwear sector, guarantees that all Erreà fabrics and products are neither toxic nor harmful to health, in compliance with the most important international regulations and in observance of the highest and most recognized quality and safety standards.

The Errea Quality

This certification, issued by the International Institute which for more than 15 years has represented the worldwide reference point for research and testing of ecological textiles, assures that during use Erreà products do not release harmful or toxic substances in quantities higher than the limits laid down by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 which represents the highest ecological level in the world of textile products and associated accessories.

The certification assures that Erreà products passed the tests of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, which include:
  • research on azoic dyes
  • research on carcinogenic and allergenic dyes
  • release of formaldehyde
  • research on chlorinated phenols
  • research on benzenes and chlorine-organic toluene
  • release of extractable heavy metals
  • verification of colour solidity
  • determination of the extracted water pH
  • research on the composed organostannicis (TBT e DBT)
Non-Toxic Textiles

Erreà constantly control every stage of the production process in order to guarantee the use of certified raw materials and the quality of the products.
  • Fabrics comply with the provisions of the production set forth by law no. 194/1999 (implementation of Directive 96/74/EC).
  • Fabrics are free from products containing formaldehyde and the presence of traces, if any, does not exceed the limits set forth by the Japanese regulation (Law 112 of 12/10/73). The molecules of formaldehyde can be absorbed when inhaled provoking irritation to the mucous membranes and the eyes, while cutaneous absorption provokes allergies and eczemas.
  • The fabrics have not been submitted to chemical treatments with any substances cited in the laws of the European Ministry of Heath issued on 10/04/92 and the successive modifications thereof. During production of the fabrics, these chemical elements are not used because, as with the case of Aromatic Amines which produce a highly intense colour, they are toxic and carcinogenic.
  • All Accessories are free of Nickel, proven to provoke allergies and eczema, as provided for in EU directive 76/769/CE and acknowledged in the legal decree on 21st March 2000 by Italian Ministry of Health.
  • “Harmful Substances Test”: The dyes used for the dyeing of fabrics respect all the requirements of European legislation, are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class II (products in direct contact with the skin) certified and do not contain azoic dyes.
  • The dyes used during the dyeing process and printing do not release carcinogenic aromatic amines in respect of European law 2002/61 CE. The dyes used for colouring our fabrics respect the skin, preventing the allergies and intolerances which are usually caused by azoic dyes.

All Erreà fabrics are Oeko-Tex certified and the control of this stems from the attention to detail when selecting the raw materials from which they are made and the tests to which they are subjected are extremely strenuous. We wish to guarantee for our clients a product which is always of the highest level and for this we impose upon our suppliers to respect our rigorous demands.

The tests to which our fabrics are normally subjected:

solidity and fastness
  • To artificial and natural light (colour cabinet)
  • To washing in water and dry cleaning (colour retention)
  • To sweat acid and alkaline (“spray test”)
  • Control of weight and structure (“Reinforcing”)
  • To rubbing and breakage (“Martindale” machine)
  • Of threads to pulling and snags (“pilling-snagging test”)
  • Testing of stitching
  • Testing of stretching/ironing
  • Testing of printing
water resistance
  • for the fabrics used in shower jackets and coats
